Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then found many other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking official stated the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
